Whether you have an existing cosplay collection or want to expand your roleplay services as a Domme, combining femdom with cosplay can provide your submissive with a unique, exciting experience. Though I write this from the professional Dominatrix’s perspective, this approach can be used by Dominants of any gender.
Drawing Inspiration from Existing Cosplay Characters
By now, you should have at least some knowledge of your characters’ backstories (if you don’t, do your homework!). Naturally, villains are exceptionally fun to play as a Domme, but your submissives may enjoy roleplaying with characters of any good/evil alignment. Heroes can make excellent Dommes, too, though their attitudes are typically less cruel than villains. One of my favorite Domme/sub roleplays involved Spider Gwen tying up a thief with her webslinger, and Gwen Stacy is definitely one of the good guys!
Each character has their own personality that adds a certain flavor to the roleplay. For example, Catwoman is known for her sensuality in both voice and body movement. She’s terrible for bratty small penis humiliation but perfect for ass worship. Captain Marvel is more physically dominant than psychological, so she’s not my first choice for degradation, but Poison Ivy’s sharp, toxic tongue can easily decimate a submissive’s ego.
When negotiating customs or private cam shows, some subs will already know exactly which character they want to dominate them, but most subs are uncertain and will ask you to choose. Considering which characters suit certain niches can help you determine the character(s) that you think your sub will enjoy the most.
Create a list of Domme specialties and fetishes and a list of your characters. Choose at least one character for each specialty that you think could make an exciting, enjoyable roleplay based on their traits (powers, weapon skills, etc.), personalities and backstories. Costumes also have physical limitations and highlights that should be considered when pairing specialties and characters. Black Cat and Catwoman naturally work well for catsuit/wet look/latex fetishists but are difficult to strip out of for nude/partial nude pegging. Here’s a few examples from my list:
Bondage: Poison Ivy, Spider Gwen, Black Widow
Pain play: Harley Quinn (esp. paddles, spank), Catwoman (esp. whip, flogger), Black Cat (esp. scratching), Black Widow
SPH: Harley Quinn, Spider Gwen, Mary Jane
Catsuit/latex/leather: Catwoman, Black Cat, Black Canary
Muscle fetish: Captain Marvel, Black Widow
Body Worship: Catwoman, Black Cat, Poison Ivy, Black Canary, Black Widow
Foot fetish: Any except Spider Gwen, Captain Marvel (bodysuits w/feet)
When discussing personalized content and private shows, your sub may request a character that has nothing to do with its matching specialties, so this guide is meant to be an inspirational tool for yourself (I’d actually advise against making it publicly available).
Roleplay scenarios
If you’ve been in the biz for a while, you already know that a lot of roleplays repeat themselves, and that’s ok! Repeating erotic fantasies is a normal part of sex work. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel for every clip in order to create a sexy scene; you just have to make it yours! A big-tittied, lactation fetish Mommy Domme is going to create a very different scene than a whip-wielding, sadistic humiliatrix even if both are playing Catwoman when she cum-denies a handcuffed security guard in the middle of a diamond heist.
Knowing your characters’ backstories is crucial if you want to set your roleplays apart, so think of ways to sprinkle canonical details into the scene even after you've established the scenario (check out this post for more on script-writing). Most subs choose to play themselves, but some will want to play established characters, so you need to know the characters’ relationship before the scene starts. Slipping up on key details can distract your submissive, especially during live sessions. If you’re playing Harley Quinn and your sub is playing Batman, you’d better know who Harley's "puddin'" is when he references the Joker! Most subs - even super-fans - won’t get upset if you mess up a minor detail here or there, but your expertise will keep them coming back to serve you again and again.
Choosing your next cosplay
I’ve talked about growing a cosplay collection in my second "How to Be a Lewd Cosplayer" post, but there’s one more major factor to bear in mind when deciding on your next costume as a Domme:
Which niches could you expand on? If your choice is between a sweet, cutesy character and a glamorous, untouchable vixen, the glam vixen may be the smarter choice. However, if you offer a variety of degradation styles, and you already have five seductive mistresses in your costume closet but no bratty princesses, the cuter character may be the better investment. If you aren't getting cosplay requests for one of your Core 4 niches, consider which characters could attract fans of that niche both in and out of your current following. Yes, every hypno-Domme with a costume has Poison Ivy in their closet, but that's because fans seek out that specific fantasy.
I'm sure I sound like a broken record by now, but if you try cosplay roleplays and find that it's not your cup of tea, don't push it! Save your costumes for special photoshoots and Halloween. Domination is a cerebral art form, and while I believe that most Dommes have the skills needed to combine the two genres, cosplay isn't every Domme's forte, and it isn't necessary to be successful.
